The
Vegas Valley Legacy Concert Band was Chartered in 2002 as a non-profit
organization, “Southern Nevada’s Own Community Band”
has performed for the entertainment of groups all over Southern Nevada,
including the Coast Guard Reserve, American Legion, The Eagles, The
U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, many community centers and retirement homes,
government and civic groups, hospitals and schools.
The
band actually includes two bands. The larger concert band plays a variety
of music ranging from Bach, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Sousa marches
to Andrew Lloyd Weber, Broadway show tunes and hit pop music of today.
The 17-piece Legacy Swing Band is a big jazz band that plays for dances,
parties, special functions and concerts. There is truly music for all
tastes and age groups.The
members of both bands come from many walks of life with diverse backgrounds.
We include such careers as lawyers, teachers, casino workers, sales
people, nursing and healthcare professionals, manufacturers’ reps,
professional musicians and more. Some of our members are students, too.
The membership ranges in age from 12 to 90. Many of the band’s
members have earned their livings as musicians…many have not…but
all of them share a common bond: a genuine love of making great music
and the joy of playing it in the company of a terrific group of wonderful
people.
Membership in our bands is open to anyone that enjoys playing an instrument.
Our rehearsal and performance calendars are published on our web site
at VegasValleyLegacyBand.com and we invite you to come and join us!
